The GSDC Medal for Excellence in NRM offers public recognition for, and rewards best practice and innovative contributions by, those working in NRM for the benefit of the Great Southern region.
Linda Lee has made a significant contribution to changing attitudes and the approach to NRM issues in the region. On their home property, Linda and her husband Terry have led by example taking an integrated and landscape scale approach to the management of NRM issues while supporting and promoting research and innovation.
Through her voluntary work with the Fitzgerald River Catchment Group (FRCG), Linda dedicated months of voluntary time to assist with the planning and writing of a number of projects for the Group. These projects identified and met NRM needs within the catchment.
During her time as FRCG secretary and chair, Linda assisted the group to broaden their activities to include a strong sustainable agriculture and production focus as well as biodiversity and conservation work. This whole farm approach, integrates on ground works, into landcare and is reflected in the aims of the Fitzgerald CDI project.
In her role as part-time project manager, Linda has continued to be a leader in NRM, working closely with landowners and research agencies and universities to support and promote best practise management. |
